Covid 19 Protocol
Traveling to far flung places always carries inherent risks, and now more so than many can remember. Your safety is our upmost priority and we have implemented several protocols to keep you and our staff as safe as possible during your trip to Tanzania.
Although we are not longer in a state of emergency regarding the covid 19 pandemic and measures to combat its spread have been relaxed we have the following protocols in place should the situation change. These will are based on the most current advice from the World Health Organisation.
Staff Training
Health measures for the public have been widely publicised in Tanzania so most communities are up to speed but all our staff have received additional training in hand and respiratory hygiene, social distancing measures with each other, our visitors and the community, safe mask use and what to do if either they or someone in your group develops symptoms.
Hygiene
Camping equipment and vehicles will be thoroughly cleaned between groups but also sanitised and will be cleaned regularly during your trip too.
Hand sanitiser will be readily available in your vehicle. Handwashing stations are also available at our campsites.
We normally filter drinking water for trips and encourage visitors to bring their own water bottles. We are asking you to continue to do this. You can also purchase one in Tanzania or from us directly.
Masks
Unless there is an exemption due to underlying health reasons, all Nyayo Discovery employees will wear a mask in confined spaces or if working in close proximity to each other outdoors.
For the safety of our drivers we ask members of your group and children over 11 to wear a mask while inside public areas in buildings, and vehicles.
Social Distancing
Your guide and camp crew will form your “bubble” for the whole period of your trip. They will also self-isolate for 10 days before the start of each new trip with a new group and work on rotation.
Vehicle numbers will be restricted to 4 per vehicle.
Driver guides will also wear a mask while driving unless they are exempt due to health reasons.
Guides, camp crew and community members will enforce a 2m social distancing rule with each other and our visitors at all times.
Health Insurance
Please ensure you have adequate health/travel insurance before you travel to Tanzania and that you are properly covered for covid 19 so you can gain access to the right treatment if the worst happens.
If You Feel Unwell
We appreciate becoming unwell in a foreign country can be anxiety inducing, but especially at this time. We will do our utmost to support and assist you.
If you feel unwell and/or develop covid 19 symptoms please inform your guide straight away.
We will check your temperature. If covid 19 symptoms are present and it’s necessary to do so, we will move you into isolation (either your own tent or we will work with accommodation providers to find you your own room).
We will assist in contacting your health insurance provider and work with them to support you.
